The Eastern Mole lives almost its entire life underground. It feeds on earthworms, insect grubs, and other invertebrates, which it locates with its highly sensitive snout. Nests of dry grass and leaves, sometimes with a litter of babies, are occasionally found by people digging in their gardens.
Look For : A gray or brown mouselike animal with velvety fur, large wide forefeet, and a short naked tail.
Length : Body 3-8″ long, tail about 1″ long; 3-5 oz.
Habitat : Fields, lawns, and gardens.
Range : Most of the eastern half of the U.S
